Welcome to the Sylpheed documentation project home page

Here is the effort of millions (well, let say tens instead of millions) nice contributors, building word after word a multilingual documentation for the Sylpheed mail and news client.

Sylpheed is an e-mail client and news reader based on GTK+ and running on X Window System. Sylpheed is developed aiming for the following things:

  • Quick response
  • Graceful, and sophisticated interface
  • Easy configuration, intuitive operation
  • Abundant features
For more details and links to the source and binary packages, check its home site, at: http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/

Project purpose:

We don't try to replace the Sylpheed home site, we just want to help by providing a precise, new-users friendly and up-to-date documentation in as much as possible different languages, to the Sylpheed users community.

Sylpheed-claws, the bleeding edge version

The sylpheed-claws project can be considered as a field of experiments for new features that may (or may not) find their place in Sylpheed. The presentation taken from the sylpheed-claws home page:

The main reason for this bleeding edge branch is to lift some of the burden from the shoulders of Hiroyuki Yamamoto, Sylpheed's creator. The idea is that we regularly resync with Hiroyuki's main branch, and vice-versa.

Input from users is welcome, but if you want stability use Hiroyuki's stable branch. If you're curious which features could end up in the stable branch, or if you like testing/crashing things a lot try this bleeding edge branch.

Feel free to contribute to this effort, check the "Contribution" link. You can help by translating documents, correcting the existing documents, or by helping for the web site design and maintenance (if you're an expert in XSLT or an artist, I'm none of them).
